Summary of The Glass Castle:
This book by Jeannette Walls is a memoir of a girl who’s family is dysfunctional. Jeannette and her siblings are forced to grow up in poverty and facing their greatest fears. Her parents make the family move around the country and finally settle in a town called Welch, West Virginia. Where the live in a falling apart home and the children end up having to most of the time making their own money to survive. Her siblings and her are motivated to get out of the town. Sometimes they go without eating anything for 3 days, but butter. Her dad is an alcoholic and is destructive and gets drunk every night in the town bars. Many days he just doesn’t come home at all. As Jeannette grows older she realizes that she’s got to get out of the town if she wants to be successful in life. She works very hard in high school and helps her sister leave to New York and follows in her sisters footsteps after the many years. She learned from her pains and fears and her narcissistic parents.
